Funding Our Research

On average, Prosser IAREC faculty annually generate $9M in grant funds from a variety of funding agencies, including federal, state, commodity commissions, and industry. These grants serve as the fuel for our faculty’s innovative research and extension projects.

Funding Sources in 2022

The bar graph below shows a breakdown of where all of the funding IAREC earned originated. IAREC researchers and faculty earned $679,005 from various state agencies, $160,356 in gifts or private donations, $1,246,149 from industry grants, and $4,022,956 from federal grants.

2022 Industry Funding Sources Breakdown

The bar graph below shows a breakdown of where all of the industry funding IAREC earned originated. Industry funding usually refers to funds received from different commodity commissions such as the Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission or Washington State Wine or industry agencies IAREC works with.  IAREC researchers and faculty earned $714,710 from the Tree Fruit Industry, $97,028 from the Hops Industry, $247,016 from the Wine Industry, $83,038 from the Mint Industry, $20,000 from the Alfalfa Industry, and $84,357 from other industries.

In addition to the agencies pictured below, Prosser IAREC faculty receive grant awards from the concord grape, mint, potato, and blueberry commodity commissions, and the Washington State Commission on Pesticide Regulation.
